Bordentown Regional High School’s Thespian Troupe 6803 is set to collect food for the Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat program.
Theatre students from BRHS will be dressed in costumes to collect food donations during local Trick or Treat activities from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 31. Students are set to donate items to Burlington Community and Emergency Services.
Donations for the Trick Or Treat So Kids Can Eat food drive are also set to be collected in the main offices of Bordentown Regional School District buildings throughout September and October.
Thespian Troupe 6803’s goal is to collect 3,500 pounds of food.
In 2010, the troupe surpassed their original goal of 1,000 pounds and donated 2,002 pounds of food. The International Thespian Society awarded them the 2010 Harvest Excellence Award for the troupe’s donation.
In three years of participation, students have collected more than 8,000 pounds of donations.
Trick or Treat So Kids Can Eat is a national community service program for ITS member schools to collect canned and dry goods for local charities and food banks. Thespian troupes from across the country are set to participate in the program.
The Bordentown Regional High School Theatre Club and Stage Crew are part of ITS, an honor organization for students who excel in the theatrical arts. Troupe 6803’s annual season of dramas, comedies, children’s theatre, musicals, festivals, and one act plays have garnered BRHS numerous awards and nominations from the New Jersey State Thespian Festival, the International Thespian Festival, the New Jersey Theatre Night Awards and the Greater Philadelphia Cappies Awards.
