Artworks Trenton is accepting submissions for several upcoming art exhibits.
“Sequential,” a juried art show celebrating visual storytelling, is set to be on view from October 22 through November 23.
“Sequential” is an open call for comic book-themed and narrative-based artwork. Artists are encouraged to submit up to three works of original art.
“Sequential” seeks to celebrate the beauty and impact of comics, manga, and graphic novels by highlighting original works of art inspired by heroes, villains, and everyday people whose stories have been shared on the page. The submission deadline is Monday, July 1.
“Variants” is a complementary show to “Sequential” featuring original artwork on blank variant comic book covers. Limited space is available and submissions will be accepted separately.

“I’m Upset: Expressions of Distress in Our Troubled Times” is scheduled to be on view in the main gallery from August 6 through 31.
There is so much division, anger, fear, and stress bleeding through to our daily lives. This show will provide an opportunity and a forum to express the many feelings lurking below the surface. I ask anyone to pick an issue which has meaning for them and submit a piece. The exhibit will be open to all subjects and all forms of media.
The curator for the show is Joanne Scofield, who has a background in art therapy, which fosters creative expression as a path to mental health. The show will acknowledge the creative process as an important avenue to share messages that can lead to personal clarity, social awareness, and community engagement.
The submission deadline is Tuesday, July 9, at 11 a.m. Accepted artworks will be announced on Friday, July 19, and drop-off will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
