Rider University’s newly created Presidential Hope Fund has surpassed $2 million in gifts just over a month after its launch.
The fund providing immediate financial assistance to students facing unexpected hardships that could jeopardize their education. Rider is located in Lawrence Township.
The fund was established by Rider President John R. Loyackand has received 100% participation from the university’s Board of Trustees and Senior Leadership Team.
The Presidential Hope Fund is designed to support students whose academic progress may be threatened by unforeseen financial or family challenges, including job loss, medical expenses, or other sudden crises.
“Through the Presidential Hope Fund, the Rider community is coming together to ensure that no Bronc is left behind when they face a temporary setback,” Loyack said.
“Whether it’s support for books and class materials because a student lost their part-time job or assistance to pay an unexpected medical bill — the fund is meant to address a variety of circumstances and needs,” he said.
The initiative builds on Rider’s broader effort to increase student retention and degree completion by removing short-term financial barriers that can derail students who are otherwise on track to graduate.
Students can apply for assistance through an online application, with requests reviewed on an individual basis. Funding is intended to address immediate and essential needs tied directly to a student’s ability to remain enrolled.
The fund exceeded its original $1 million goal within days of its announcement in late October, following Loyack’s personal pledge of $150,000 over three years.
University leaders have described the effort as the foundation for a larger campaign focused on long-term student success.
“Rider’s success depends on our ability to help every student cross the finish line,” Loyack said. “The Presidential Hope Fund represents our shared belief that no Bronc should have to leave Rider because of financial barriers.”
Students can apply for funding using this form. Applications are reviewed on an individual basis.
