How fortunate am I?

I have the honor of serving as mayor of one of New Jersey’s finest communities and celebrating two special milestones: the 45th anniversary of Community Festival on June 13 and our nation’s 250th birthday on July 4.

It’s truly an exciting moment.

On behalf of the Township Council and administration, I thank our residents, businesses, civic leaders, nonprofits, volunteers and staff for helping bring our signature outdoor event back to Robbinsville for another day of community, food, music and fireworks at Community Park. The fireworks are scheduled for around 9 p.m.

As my first festival as mayor approaches, I am proud of Robbinsville’s long tradition of bringing people together in our beautiful parks. Even before I was elected, Community Day held a special place in my heart.

My wife, daughters and I have always treasured the chance to celebrate the spirit, generosity, diversity and countless other gifts this Robbinsville community displays throughout the year.

During the festival, be sure to visit the Kid’s Zone and Prize Alley, and consider playing cornhole to support Robbinsville Meals on Wheels. It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the businesses, charities and organizations that help our town thrive.

I also want to extend a heartfelt thank-you to our sponsors, community groups and vendors for their generous support over the years. Events like this remind us that we are stronger together, and I am deeply grateful to our staff — especially the Recreation Division and Department of Public Works — for all they have done to make this festival possible.

Thank you again for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy the festival.

The 2026 municipal budget of $34.9 million, introduced May 14, is scheduled for a vote following a public hearing June 11.

This was a tough budget because we never want to raise taxes. However, we have all seen reports from neighboring towns throughout New Jersey of budgets that include tax increases due to rising costs for liability insurance, pensions, workers’ compensation, utilities and snow removal, as well as state aid that has remained flat despite inflation. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, Robbinsville is not immune.

The drivers behind the proposed 3.6-cent increase — down from the presented increase of 5.1 cents — to the municipal rate per every $100 of assessed value are beyond our control. Despite this unavoidable reality, we do not anticipate this increase to be the norm.

There are several one-time spikes associated with this budget, and residents will continue to receive top-tier services and further investments in our community’s future. Unlike many other municipalities in New Jersey, Robbinsville is anticipating savings in electric utility costs due to the consolidation of several municipal facilities into the new municipal building at 2300 Route 33.

During or after the June 11 public hearing, the council can vote on additional changes by resolution. A second public hearing would only be required for significant changes under state guidelines. The council can then vote to adopt the budget, with approval from the New Jersey Division of Local Government Services.

Prior to adoption, the township will once again provide an easy-to-follow “Municipal Budget Guide for Residents” PowerPoint presentation, which debuted in 2025, in the public meeting room on the second floor. The council meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

In the meantime, the 2026 introduced budget can be viewed at robbinsville.net.

Mike Todd is the mayor and director of public safety for Robbinsville Township.
