The Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) invites music lovers of all ages to join Pop-Up Choir Princeton, a free community choir designed to bring folks together.
Pop-Up Choir Princeton is a community singing experience where families, neighbors, and music-lovers come together to sing pop songs in harmony — no auditions, no pressure, just joy. Kids and parents sing side-by-side, adults who “used to sing” feel safe to try again, and first-time singers get to experience the magic of choir.
Attendees will sing shortened versions of well-loved pop songs arranged with easy-to-follow harmonies. Rather than being divided by age or gender, singers choose the range that feels best for their voice. Families sit together and work as a team — either choosing to all sing the same part or challenge each other to sing in harmony.
Singing sessions will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3; Wednesday, March 18; Wednesday, April 8; Tuesday, May 5; and Wednesday, May 20.
Leading the choir is Natalie Cardillo, a music educator, vocal arranger, and choral director who holds a bachelor of music education in voice from the University of Delaware. She currently performs with the Delaware Choral Scholars.
After years leading award-winning choir and a cappella programs at the high school, collegiate, and professional levels, Cardillo now seeks to create an ensemble rooted in joy, accessibility, and connection. Realizing she hadn’t seen anything quite like it before, Cardillo created Pop-Up Choir Princeton to offer a welcoming, non-intimidating way for individuals and families to experience the magic of singing in a choir.
“Singing in a choir helps me feel grounded, connected to others, and filled with joy from head to toe,” she says. “I hope to share that joy in a space where everyone feels comfortable, supported, and invited to participate.”
