A person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Mercer County on Aug. 7, according to the N.J. State Police.
A police spokesperson said that at 10:32 a.m., a Kenworth semi-trailer struck the back of a Ford F-150 and then hit the side of a Mercedes-Benz on the southbound Turnpike in East Windsor Township.
The Ford F-150 then struck the back of a Freightliner, and during the crash, its rear wheel dislodged and hit the back of a Ford van. The F-150 then became fully engulfed in flames.
The crash occurred near milepost 68.2 on the highway’s outer roadway.
According to authorities, the driver of the F-150 was pronounced dead at the scene. The person’s identity is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
Police said the drivers of the Ford van and the Mercedes-Benz sustained minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
