New Jersey Transit and the New Jersey Department of Transportation are hosting a public forum tonight, Feb. 19, at the Dinky Station to discuss the rail line’s restoration.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Dinky Station, which is located one block north of Alexander Road.
The goal of the meeting is to address commuter concerns and provide up-to-date information on the restoration project, according to a statement from lawmakers. This is one of several meetings planned throughout the state to discuss transit issues.
“The public deserves answers and better communications on progress to restoration of an acceptable level of service,” Assemblyman Dan Benson said in a statement. “As a request of our committee, we hope the commissioner and NJ Transit use these opportunities to not only truly listen to riders experience but use them to inform their action to resolve the continuing problems facing this agency.”
Dinky service was slated to be restored in January, but NJ Transit recently pushed it back until sometime in the second quarter of this year. The train has not been in service since October in order facilitate safety equipment work on other lines.
The Dinky runs runs between Princeton Junction Train Station and Princeton University’s Arts and Transit Village. In place of the Dinky rail service, NJ Transit is continuing to run a shuttle bus service between Princeton and Princeton Junction.
