I recently returned from back to back travel industry events. As a travel professional it is important to continually educate myself on new suppliers, products and to strengthen my relationships with suppliers and local destination management companies.
As a top-producing travel advisor, I was invited to attend the elite Global Travel Marketplace in Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale, Florida. During the event, I worked on building new business relationships, learning more about various products and destinations, and sharing innovative ideas with my peers—all so I can provide you – my clients with the most up-to-date expertise.
I was honored to be selected out of thousands of travel advisors from across North America to attend this selective professional event. And I am excited to put all that I have learned into action, so I can bring your vacation experiences to the next level!
Immediately following the Global Travel Marketplace, I attended the second annual Luxury and River Cruise Forum and recertified as a Luxury Travel Specialist.
While the DIY traveler and last-minute deal shoppers are still out there, there has been an increase in luxury travel sales. In fact, Cruise Planners, an American Express Travel Representative, notes that sales for luxury cruising is up 46 percent in 2018 compared to the entire year in 2017. The Luxury Travel Forum equipped me with the knowledge and tools needed to provide top-notch service to those seeking a luxury travel experience. I strengthened my strategic partnerships with leading luxury travel brands so I can continue to offer clients targeted luxury travel marketing including a luxury specific e-newsletter.
Luxury travel continues to grow and I am now even more equipped to create high-end vacations on land and on the sea for my clients. As a luxury travel professional, I act as a travel concierge, providing the whole package to each client, including my personalized service throughout the planning process and a unique and distinguished travel experience.
Between the two events, I had private meetings with over a 70 carefully selected travel suppliers, tourist boards and destination management companies who arrange travel around the world.
These are a few of the regions, I have new contacts and ability to plan a customized tour are:
1. Japan – Experience the Bullet trains and local culture. And in 2020 the Olympics come to Tokyo and now is the time to start planning
2. Germany – specifically the Black Forest and surrounding areas – perfect before and after a river cruise
3. Central America – luxury villas in Costa Rica, voluntourism in Nicaragua are some of the examples of different types of travel in this part of the world
And my passion and enjoyment in the fastest growing type of cruising continues:
River Cruises – Up over 61% versus last year due to increases in the number of ships and interest in this type of travel. And now there are options for more active and discovery river cruises to immerse yourself in local culture, food and wine. And there is still limited availability on river cruises this fall, with offers including free air to fill the remaining cabins. It is not too late to plan an amazing journey to Europe to sail on the Rhine, Danube or Rhone rivers.
