As a 15 year resident of the West Windsor, I am totally disgusted by the very concept that the school administration has audacity to propose unnecessary projects of $115 million to further their career aspirations at the taxpayers’ expenses.
As Veronica Mehno in her letter last week forcefully pointed out, this expenditure is unnecessary and extravagant at every level. No right thinking person can support such an outrageous plan. The school administration has already spent significant money on the addition of Village ($13 million), Maurice Hawk ($16 million) and Town Center ($5 million) based on cooked up demographic and expansion statistics. These expenditures were never put to referendum. They have irresponsibly depleted the school fund reserves that should have been returned to tax payers who paid those moneys by paying excessive taxes levied by the school board.
Who in their mind can say that $115 million will have no impact on taxes? That is the most dishonest, disgusting and deceptive statement. Have they won a lottery from somewhere or found some hidden gold bricks while digging the ground? This large amount of money does not magically appear out of nowhere. Someone has to pay for it. Every household will be paying for this for the next 20 years. The impact will be even worse because of the House tax deduction limits in N.J.
Instead of working to reduce the taxes on residents and returning the reserves, they are busy in planning even more spending and increasing taxes. Every resident in the school district should say “no” to the referendum and work to remove those elected officials that support this plan.
