West Windsor has some important decisions to make and actions to take. While it is only one of many issues that need solid reasoning and effective leadership, certainly the fate of the Howard Hughes property is as big an issue as we have faced in quite a while. Our next mayor must be able to synthesize a lot of factual information to make the decisions and have the political, etc. skills to turn his/her decisions into the appropriate actions.
I ask you, the readers of WWP News and the Community News website, to learn about our candidates, make a wise choice and exercise your voting privilege on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Look at the candidates’ websites, look at a comparison of their policies on the League of Women Voters website, and look, on YouTube, at their performances at the Oct. 2 debate.
I’ve been very impressed with the candidacy of Yan Mei Wang. Her recent debate performance shows much depth of understanding about the issues. Her website covers, with great detail, a much wider set of issues than that of her opponents. For example, she has detailed ideas for emergency preparedness. We West Windsor residents don’t have to watch television to know how our lives can be affected by hurricanes, having lived with Irene and Sandy.
Our lives, our comforts, the environment we leave to our children, and the value of our property are on the line if we don’t prepare for emergencies, including weather-related emergencies. Ms. Wang, it would seem, has given much more thought to those issues than have the other candidates. Her website contains a list of both preventative and remediation measures to prepare us for what is inevitable or nearly so. The issue is important to me.
