West Windsor Township Police reported this morning that an aggravated assault involving a shooting took place the evening of Thursday, Oct. 26 or early morning Friday, Oct. 27, but little verified information is known about the incident.
At 2:12 a.m. on Friday morning, patrol officers responded to the Capital Health Medical Center Fuld Campus Emergency Room in Trenton on the report of a shooting victim being treated at the facility.
It was reported that the incident possibly occurred on U.S. 1 northbound, somewhere in the area of the Extended Stay America. The victim was shot in the right biceps.
The victim, a Trenton resident, was said to have been standing in the shoulder of U.S. 1 urinating when he heard a loud noise, looked at his arm, and realized he had been shot. He subsequently made his way to Capital Health for treatment.
Detectives interviewed the victim, a 36-year-old black male whom they have not named, but they say the victim refused to cooperate and gave very little information as to what had actually occurred.
WWPD gave no details on the victim’s condition.
Despite the victim’s lack of cooperation in assisting investigators, WWPD has been actively investigating the incident. Anyone who has any information on the incident is encouraged to contact Detective Zacheis at the West Windsor Township Police Department at (609) 799-1222. They can also call WWPD’s anonymous tip-line at (609) 799-0452 or submit a tip at cities.formstack.com/forms/wwpd_tipline_submission.
