Do you know the status of the construction of the new Wawa? It seems that construction at the site has slowed over the past few months.
The delay was caused by a problem with one of the contractors and has since been addressed. Everyone is looking forward to completing the project and the construction work will start up again in late January.
In the event of a significant snowfall, will the town’s Community Notification System call residents with important information and closings?
We will make notifications during any significant snowfall, or any other important event, using our Community Notification System. Recently, Ewing has launched a new system called Swift911, which has the capability of contacting all residents and business owners in the township via telephone calls, text messages and emails within minutes.
With the availability of near instant information in today’s world, this is a tool that I believe will help keep our community safe and informed. Residents should go to the Ewing Township website at ewingnj.org and visit the Swift911 Portal by following the Swift911 link on the home page to receive more information about the system and to register phone numbers or devices that they would like to receive messages on.
From the Swift911 Portal residents can also change their notification preferences, download the “Swift911 Public” smartphone app, or opt-out of the system entirely. I encourage all residents to register all of their devices with Swift911.
For questions about the system or if you do not have access to a computer, call (609) 883-2900 ext. 7777 and we will be happy to provide assistance with registering your devices with the system.
Is Ewing considering switching to a one can trash pickup system, similar to what has been done in other municipalities?
Ewing will continue with the existing once a week pickup. We have previously looked into the one can pick up system, but the initial cost to purchase the cans was prohibitive at the time.
If you have a question for the mayor for next month’s edition, submit it by emailing bsanservino@mercerspace.com or by posting it on our Ewing Observer Facebook page. You must be a Ewing resident.
