For the month of February, the Lawrence Library will host an exhibition of artist and Lawrence resident S.L. Baker’s new paintings. An opening reception will be held Sunday, Feb. 5, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Baker has been showing and selling her work for over 10 years. Her abstract paintings give a nod to Buddhist philosophy. This is her fourth solo show at the library headquarters.
Baker, a retired New Jersey public school teacher, was born in Princeton and is a lifelong Mercer County resident. She has two adult children and three grandchildren, and she currently lives in Lawrence with her husband, a professional musician and songwriter. Baker is also a published poet and lyricist.
Baker has previously shown her work at the Straube Center for the Arts in Pennington, the Abud Family Foundation for the Arts in Lawrence and others, and she was the Small World Coffee featured artist in February 2015. She has had works in juried and group exhibitions at the Ellarslie Museum in Trenton, the Paul Robeson Center for the Arts in Princeton, the Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the J.B. Kline Gallery in Lambertville and more.
