Aldi has pushed back a planned March 1 reopening for its supermarket on North Olden Avenue. The store has been closed for several months for renovations and planned to open at the beginning of the month.
An Aldi spokesperson notified the Ewing Observer late yesterday that the reopening is not happening as scheduled.
“We actually just received word from ALDI this afternoon that the March 1 reopening has been delayed and unfortunately, we don’t have a new reopening date to share yet,” said the spokesperson in an email.
When the store does reopen, customers can expect a fresh new look for the supermarket.
“We are pleased to showcase the new look of Aldi with this updated store and continue to help customers stretch their dollars,” said Bob Grammer, Center Valley division vice president for Aldi.
“As important as price is, there’s only one way to attract and keep shoppers: You have to have quality products,” he said. “When people try our Aldi exclusive brands, they are excited by the savings and impressed by the quality.”
According to a company press release, Aldi took input from customers into consideration when planning the changes to the store.

The store will offer “a modern and convenient shopping environment featuring more room for customers’ favorite products, inviting colors, high ceilings, natural lighting and environmentally-friendly building materials—such as energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting,” stated the release.
The store will also feature easy-to-spot product signage and prominent product prices. “The new store makes it even easier for families to say hello to fresh and make smart choices with healthy tips within the produce section and ‘Dietitian’s Picks’—healthy products handpicked by leading nutrition experts,” said the release.
In addition to the stores new look, Aldi will bring shoppers a wide range of premium groceries from which to choose, such as organic produce, USDA Choice beef, the liveGfree gluten-free product line and the SimplyNature line of products that are free from over 125 artificial ingredients and preservatives. All exclusive brand food products are free of added MSG, certified synthetic colors and partially hydrogenated oils.
The remodeled location will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Over the next several years, Aldi plans to add an average of 130 new stores each year, expanding the ability to bring grocery savings to more people every day.
On of those new locations will be in Hamilton Township, where construction has begun on a new Route 33 development that will also include a Panera Bread.
Last month, crews began tearing down the old Hamilton Chrysler building, which has been vacant since 2009 when the dealership closed.
