Trenton Children’s Chorus (TCC) presents its free annual spring concert on Friday, May 12, at 7 p.m., at Covenant Church, 471 Parkway Avenue.
The event features more than 150 children in grades K through 12 participating in six choruses and reflects the end of the academic year and chorus’ season.
This year’s concert’s theme is “Stand Up,” designed to encourage the participating youth in grades K through 12 to pro-actively support social and personal interests.
Musical selections include a work from the musical “Hamilton,” Los Angeles-based singer-composer MILCK, whose song “Quiet” became a viral hit during the January, 2017, Women’s March on Washington, and other works.
Trenton Children’s Chorus is an award-winning nonprofit whose mission is to empower the academic, social, and spiritual lives of children through artistry in music. TCC provides music education, academic support, and leadership training to the young people it serves in the greater Trenton area, regardless of each child’s financial situation.
All of TCC’s graduates attend college and are eligible for TCC scholarships.
Founded in 1989 as an outreach project of two churches in Princeton, TCC began as an entirely volunteer-run nonprofit organization with 11 choristers in its first year.
The chorus has since performed at the White House, United Nations, National Cathedral, and Princeton University; and in concerts featuring Bobby McFerrin and Dave Brubeck.
