The following is a letter sent to Mayor Shing Fu Hsueh:
On the July 18th tape you said that you did not know what was going on regarding the bike path. You mentioned that you were going to invite the residents to a meeting. The meeting was scheduled for August 10th. However, half way through the meeting you LEFT. You did not stay to listen to the comments of all the residents of Jefferson Park. That was very RUDE and INSULTING. You kept saying that you spent 1 hour talking to the residents at their homes, and once you had them ALL together because you had invited us to listen to what we had to say, you LEFT. SHAME on you MAYOR. This just shows that you do not care about what us or our wellbeing or how our lifestyle will be impacted. All this is about this “MASTERPLAN” that was put back in 2005 by you as you were in office at that time.
Had you stayed, as a good leader would have done to listen to the residents and their concerns you would have known that no one wants this path. I had to put up with the rudeness of Pat Ward that the only thing she did was to “BULLY” residents left and right. Pat Ward needs to understand that this is NOT her town. She only works here and her salary gets paid thanks to the fact that all the residents pay their taxes. Therefore, Pat Ward, needs to be more cooperative with the residents. In true corporate America an employee that shows such disrespect would have been sanctioned or even fired.
My husband and I also met with Ms. Hamilton and her only objective was to twist our arm to accept this grant and shove this bike path down our throats. Her arguments were irrelevant and lack substance. If the person that made the mistake by the way the grant was requested was the Mayor, we the residents do NOT have to pay the price. The statement that really struck me the most was that my husband as a litigator and I told her that we requested Ms. Miller to recuse herself as it is clear a conflict of interest. Her reply was “ I have voted on issues were I had an interest and I had not recuse myself”. That statement in its own speaks to the lack of transparency and the way that things are being done in this township. That statement is nothing to be proud of.
Nobody wants this PATH, so please take this email as the comments that you requested. Nobody wants this to happen and as the engineer Frances Guzik stated yesterday “If you do not want it in the backyard will go in the front yard”…..Mr. Guzik, I have news for you….this is America and there is a democratic process to follow. This is not because the Mayor wants something and says “jump” we just have to respond “How high”. We are taxpayers and we do not want it in the backyard, not in the front yard not in the side yard…..we DO NOT WANT IT….I hope my English is good enough for you to understand.
It was SHAMEFUL to see the lack of respect of the administration towards the residents, however, not unexpected.
