Plainsboro candidates running for school board will speak in a forum sponsored by the West Windsor-Plainsboro Education Support Association on Saturday, Oct. 8.
The WWPESA is a nonprofit group formed by local residents in the wake of last year’s curriculum controversy to “support educational excellence” in the school district, according to the group’s website at wwpesa.org.
The forum will be at 1 p.m. at the Plainsboro Public Library. The group was also set to sponsor a forum featuring the West Windsor candidates on Oct. 1, after the News went to press.
Expected to speak at the event are candidates Shrenik Dagli, Todd Hochman, Russel Melville and Yu “Taylor” Zhong. The four are running for one open seat on the board.

The WW-P School Board approved a revised agreement outlining cooperation between the school district and the two townships’ police departments on Sept. 27.
This is the fifth version of the Uniform State Memorandum of Agreement, which was first adopted in 1988. The agreement was last revised in 2011, and the updated agreement recognizes two recently adopted state laws.
One is the Overdose Prevention Act, which grants immunity to an individual seeking medical assistance in response to a drug overdose, as well as to others participating in the request for medical help.
Another new provision pertains to cyber-harassment. Electronic forms of communication, such as blog posts, which are considered threats or harassment shall be reported to law enforcement.
In particular, cyber-harassment is a criminal offense defined by state law as an electronic communication that threatens harm or committing a crime against a person, as well as the sending of lewd, indecent, or obscene material.
Hazing is another criminal offense that school officials shall report to law enforcement. Students involved in group initiation rituals that may put an individual in danger of bodily harm is considered hazing.
Coordination of harassment-intimidation-bullying and criminal investigations was also revised.
