One of the Bordentown Regional High School community’s favorite traditions is back for the fifth consecutive year—Mr. Bordentown.The competition, which this year will pit 16 male students up against one another, will be held in the Bordentown Performing Arts Center on Friday, Jan 8. at 7 p.m. It is expected to run until 9 p.m., and costs $5 for students and $7 for adults.The students who will be competing this year are Darren Baker, Raj Baskaran, Peter Bokma, Saad Butt, Samuel Frey, Dino Gromitsaris, Mitchell Luyber, Liam McCormick, Matthew Molnar, Brandon Nguyen, Scott Price, Jim Rivera, Jason Schenker, Jack Stewart, Nate Wiggley and Jason Woloff. Each student will wear a sash representing a different activity, like Mr. Football, Mr. English or Mr. Student Council. In order to participate, each student needs to accumulate activity points, earned though academics, sports and clubs.At the pageant, all of the participants will take part in seven segments: opening dance, casual wear, beach wear, formal wear, talent and questions. The Mr. Legs winner will also be revealed—competitors collect coins throughout the week leading up to Mr. Bordentown, and whoever has the most the day of the competition wins.Following a performance from last year’s winner, Mr. Bordentown is revealed after the three judges tally up their scores from each category. First-year assistant principals Teresa Valentin and Amy Jablonski are scheduled to judge. The third will be named later.BRHS business teacher and student council advisor Kara Lynch said the event has been “very successful and popular” since she was a student at the school from 2004-2008.Through the event, the student council raises between $1,500-$2,500 for Hope Loves Company, a charity that benefits children of ALS patients.“People probably love the creativity and being able to see certain students come out of their shell,” Lynch said. “The past three years have consisted of some very memorable talents.”For more information, visit
