The Boys & Girls Clubs of Mercer County has scheduled two workshops presenting information on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for local college-bound students and their parents. The workshops are set to take place on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, 6:30 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 15, 2016, 6:30 to 7 p.m. at the Spruce Street Clubhouse, 1040 Spruce Street in Lawrenceville.
Both workshops are free and available to anyone entering college in 2016; low-income, first-generation students are especially encouraged to attend. The FAFSA must be completed to apply for federal, state and institutional financial aid for college.
Presented by Dionne L. Hallback, Financial Aid Associate Director at The College of New Jersey for the NJ Higher Education Student Assistance Authority (HESAA), the sessions will provide a brief overview of federal and state grants, scholarships and loan programs available through the Federal Application for Free Student Aid (FAFSA) along with key information and requirements on filing.
At the February workshop, students and their families can complete an online filing of their FASFA form using the Clubhouse’s computer lab. Students and parents will need to bring their 2015 Federal Income Tax Return or most recent tax return and the last 2015 pay stub to complete the online filing.
