Let us save the taxpayers of West Windsor and Plainsboro $180,000,000 million this year. And every year!
All students next year (starting July 1) will stay home and get connected via the internet to the University of Phoenix, where each student learns at his/her own pace and gets graduation whenever. (If this method for delivery of education is good enough for the district superintendent, it is good enough for your kid!)
No exams, no midterms, no finals, no class ranking — just the degree. Exorbitant property taxes are instantly solved (except at the county and municipal levels).
Slam dunk. Surely the curriculum committee will review this without delay? I know the district superintendent and fleet of visionary assistant superintendents will support this.
Close all brick-and-mortar schools! No need for expensive transportation contracts, teacher pensions, sports programs, and everything is run out of the new $14 million WW-P Bored of Education office. (No need to videotape Bored meetings.)
At the municipal level:
(1). Budgeting should be a continuous, ongoing exercise with reviews quarterly for tweaking adjustments. Mayor Hsueh would know this from his Wall Street and Rutgers/DEP experience.
(2). Hsueh: zero-percent is unattainable? Wait! You said that for the last two years! Pretend you are a mayor for once and let the professional managers find the savings. You can focus on tai chi, photo-ops, and bringing Taiwanese companies to the American Cyanamid/Hughes property.
(3). West Windsor doesn’t need a bikeway on Conover Road between South Post and Galston. Sidewalks could be built by Department of Public Works crews when it isn’t busy picking up brush and twigs. Think Cranbury Road and Washington Road sidewalks for public safety, both of which you have ignored and floated excuses.
(4). Cranbury Road sidewalks have been discussed and proposed since 1984, when I served on the (volunteer) Township Committee Pedestrian & Bicycle Access Committee. Suspend the business administrator until this project is approved. Six property owners for a decision? OMG. Two yes; two no; and she cannot find two property owners? Call the National Guard and Scotland Yard!
(5). No more inflated engineering puffery needed for Alexander Road for a project (fourth lane) that should have been completed when the other three lanes were repaved last summer. Why can’t West Windsor’s Township Engineer stand with his hands in his pockets while this last lane is paved?
(6). P.S. The deadly Alexander Road S-curve, which took Hsueh seven years to re-construct, sure looks like the same S-curve before a few truckloads of dirt were removed. Why didn’t Hsueh have the Department of Public Works do that work and save taxpayer dollars?
(7). West Windsor’s part-time mayor is full-time absent. Hsueh never met a budget he actually created or fully understood. Make West Windsor Great Again!
Stop making this township look like junk — get the money you spent on the Transit Village folly returned to taxpayers. The Transit Village expenditures should have been in a referendum. But you wouldn’t have liked the results.
