The Ewing branch of the Mercer County Library has released its schedule of events for April. Parents must remain in the library with their children for most programs.
Weekly Storytimes and Activities for Children/Teens:
On Mondays, April 4, 11, 18 and 25: Toddler STEM Program for ages 1-3 at 10 a.m.; Happy Two’s Activity Time for children age 2 years at 11 a.m.; and Messy Play Craft Time for children, ages 2-3, at 2 p.m. Bring a smock or old tee-shirt.
On Tuesday, April 5, 12, 19 and 26: Read and Play Storytime for children, ages 2-5, at 10:30 a.m.; Play Group with Stories for children, ages 3-5, between 11:15 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.; Open Craft for School-Age children grades K-5 at 4:30 p.m.
On Wednesdays, April 6, 13, 20 and 27: Cat, Hat, Sat rhyming words activity time for children, ages 3-4, at 10 a.m.; Open Lego Play Program for school age children at 4:30 p.m.
On Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28: Mother Goose Storytime for children, ages infants to 18 months, at 10:30 a.m.; Scribble Time, for children ages 12 months to 36 months at 11 a.m.
On Fridays, April 8, 15, 22 and 29: Preschool Storytime for children ages 4-5 at 10 a.m.; Play Dough creations/ Lego based on story time theme for children, ages 2-5, at 11 a.m.
Special programming for children in April:
Take Home Craft, Coffee Filter Flower. The library will supply materials to make project. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Chess Club, Sundays, April 4, 11, 18 and 25, 3 to 4 p.m., for children ages K-5.
Crazy 8s Bedtime Math for children in grades 3-5 on Mondays, April 4, 11, 18 and 25, 4:30-5 p.m. Participants get to do mischief-making activities like glow-in-the-dark geometry, bouncy dice and toilet paper Olympics.
Sing-A-Long with Pat McKinley, for children, ages birth-7 years, on Fridays, April 15, 11:30 a.m. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Read to Breezy, the Therapy Dog, for children in grades 1-3, Thursdays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28, 4:30 p.m.
Teens Read to Preschoolers, April 3 and April 10, 1 to 3 p.m., teen and caregivers of preschoolers need to register online or call the Library. There is a need for student volunteers. Students will receive community service credit.
National Library Week is Sunday, April 10 to Saturday, April 16. Librarians will hand out a “Caught You Reading” ticket to patrons who are enjoying a library book for independent reading. Exchange the ticket for a small prize at the library. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Poetry for Children of All Ages is on Wednesday, April 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Share your favorite poem. Light refreshments! Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Book Discussion for children in Grades 3 to 5, “El Deafo” by Cece Bell, Tuesday, April 26, 4:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be available. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
Presentation by the Master Gardeners of Mercer County for children in grades 1 to 4. Learn about the benefits of planting a single tree. Register Early. Program is limited to 20 children.

Emotional Freedom Techniques on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. Presented by Carol Bemmels. EFT combines acupuncture with modern psychology but without the needles. By gently tapping on acupoints while tuning into whatever problem you want to work on, the distress subsides and you’re left with a new sense of emotional freedom. Registration required.
