The Hamilton Rotary Club recently hosted its fourth annual Soup 4 You contest at Steinert High School, an event that highlighted soups from local restaurants.
The overall Grand Champion was Killarney’s Publick House with its cream of chicken and rice soup. The second place Chef’s Award went to Mannino’s 3 with its creamy chicken soup. More than 250 attendees sampled specialty soups and were treated to rolls, breads and cookies provided by Mercer County Culinary Arts students.
All winners and honorable mentions were only points apart. Third place went to Mamma Rosa’s with its potato horseradish soup. Fourth place went to Mercer County Culinary Arts School with its fire roasted corn & seafood bisque served with red pepper, apple and shrimp Bruschetta. Fifth place went to Spigola with its anjou pear soup with apple cider reduction. Honorable Mentions included Bill’s Olde Tavern with its homemade sausage and white bean soup, Il Forno Cafe with its potato leek with panchetta soup, La Piazza with its cream of roasted pepper and chicken soup and Mastoris with its Yankee Bean soup.
