The Westminster Conservatory at Nassau recitals continue on Thursday, March 17 at 12:15 p.m. with a performance by the woodwind trio High Winds. The members of the trio, Katherine McClure, flute; Melissa Bohl, oboe; and Kenneth Ellison, clarinet, are faculty members of Westminster Conservatory.
This free recital will take place in the Niles Chapel of Nassau Presbyterian Church, 61 Nassau Street in Princeton. They will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Variations on “Là ci darem la mano,” Trio byPaul Harris, and Josef Friedrich Doppelbauer’s Trio I.
Katherine McClure is the principal flutist of the Strauss Symphony of America, the Lyons Chamber Players, and the Savoy Opera Company. In addition she plays flute and piccolo with the New Jersey Capital Philharmonic Orchestra, the American Repertory Ballet Orchestra, the Riverside Symphonia, and other regional groups. McClure teaches flute at Westminster Conservatory and the Lawrenceville School, and maintains a private studio in Kingston.
Melissa Bohl is the principal oboist of the New Jersey Capital Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, and the American Repertory Ballet Orchestra. She plays oboe and English horn with the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea and the Plainfield Symphony, and performs regularly with many other area musical organizations, including the Garden State Symphonic Band, Central Jersey Symphonic Orchestra, and Boheme Opera. At Westminster Conservatory she teaches oboe and is head of the wind, brass, and percussion department.
Clarinetist Kenneth Ellison has performed internationally with many ensembles, including the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, the Riverside Symphonia, the Greenville Symphony, and the American Fine Arts Festival. He has played under such conductors as Andrea Quinn, John Rutter, Frederick Fennell, and Rossen Milanov, in venues including Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, NJPAC, and the Liszt School of Music. He performs regularly with the Chelsea Opera Company, Trio21, New Jersey Arts Collective, the Danzon Trio, and is a founding member of trio@play. Mr. Ellison teaches clarinet and saxophone at Westminster Conservatory and is an Artist-in-Residence at the Joshua Tree School.
The next Westminster Conservatory at Nassau recital will take place on Thursday, April 21. Mary Greenberg will perform works for solo piano inspired by works of William Shakespeare.
