Somerset Valley Playhouse has auditions for “Boeing Boeing” on Sunday, March 20, at 3 p.m. at 689 Amwell Road, Hillsborough. The director is seeking two men, and four women. The female characters have French, German, Italian, and New York accents. Actresses auditioning for the three air hostesses must be comfortable in high-heeled shoes. Mercer County Park Commission seeks volunteers to perform an ash tree survey to help monitor and manage the spread of the emerald ash borer in the park’s ash trees.
Trained monitors will collect a variety of measurements and observations of ash trees, including tree diameter, canopy fullness, and EAB symptoms. Volunteer training will take place on Thursday, April 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to noon at Mountain View Golf Course. All participants must attend one training session. American Diabetes Association’s Princeton Tour de Cure, a cycling and walk event that raises funds for the ADA, will be held Sunday, June 26. Volunteers are needed to register riders, give them food and water, help with car and bike parking, drive support and gear vehicles, and more. Kidsbridge in partnership with the Axelrod Foundation and the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education invites nominations for the sixth annual 2016 Youth Holocaust & Genocide Awareness Award Program.
Principals, teachers, and school counselors of students in fourth to 12th grades may nominate a student who has demonstrated an altruistic act of generating awareness, empathy, and action for holocaust and/or genocide education. Students in middle and high schools are invited to take part in the 2016 Mercer County Teen Arts Festival, a comprehensive arts education program on Friday, May 13, at Mercer Community College in West Windsor.
This year’s Mercer County event is directly tied to the State Teen Arts Festival, which will return in June and be held at Ocean County College. Students who excel in their particular art form at the county level are selected to be showcased at the state festival, where thousands of dollars in scholarships will be awarded. Participation in the Mercer County Teen Arts Festival is required in order for local students to be a part of the state event.

Animal Friends for Education and Welfare (AFEW) seeks volunteers for its foster program. Choices include fostering a dog or cat while they wait to find their forever home or recover from a medical procedure, a litter of kittens giving them a place to grown and socialize, or a dog or cat needing socialization. Attitudes in Reverse (AIR) seeks volunteers for In Their Shoes, a suicide prevention awareness event at Rider University on Wednesday, March 30, from 11 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Therapy dogs are also needed.
