I attended the West Windsor Council meeting on May 31 and came away with mixed feelings about how the meeting transpired. On a positive note, Linda Geevers was very professional and managed the meeting very well. Most of the other Council members were attentive and engaged, with one glaring exception.
Hemant Marathe showed little interest in the proceedings but at the end engaged in what can only be described as a paranoid attack on the audience. He referred to us, residents and taxpayers, contemptuously as “you people.” He claimed, wrongly, that we all somehow demeaned him and were harshly critical of him. Where this came from is anyone’s guess. He also furiously attacked the mayor.
I do recall that when he was president of the school board he frequently treated people with contempt so this is nothing new for him. Based on his performance at this council meeting I can only comment that he has no place in public service. Unfortunately we have to live with his paranoia and viciousness for three more years before we can be rid of him.
