The Lawrence Branch of the Mercer County Library is set to host a book launch event featuring local artist/writer Bill Plank on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. The library is located on 2751 Brunswick Pike, at the Corner of Brunswick Pike and Darrah Lane in Lawrenceville.
Plank is a professional artist and retired art teacher with 25 years of experience teaching art and art history in New Jersey. He continues to produce award-winning artwork while honing his writing skills in fantasy and steam-punk fiction. He now uses his own paintings as inspiration for the stories he writes.
The event will serve as a book launch for Plank’s second book, “The Universal Lighthouse,” published by Red Dashboard Publishing. At the event, the artist/author will be describing how the story developed and came to be published.
The story was inspired by one of Plank’s paintings entitled “The Universal Lighthouse,” and is also the cover art for the book, which features more of Plank’s artwork. The book is a steam-punk fantasy space adventure about an interstellar lighthouse, which takes on a life of its own under its new leader, Captain Matthew Hawks.
Copies of the book will be available at the event through the Friends of the Lawrence Library. “The Universal Lighthouse” is also available on amazon.com.
