The Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, recipient of the American Prize Award, will present its Season Opening Concert on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 7 p.m. The orchestra is conducted by its music director Chiu-Tze Lin. The concert is for all ages and will be held at the Princeton Alliance Church at 20 Schalks Crossing Road in Plainsboro.

The theme of the concert is “Classical Pops!” which the orchestra will present as a showcase for great classical music familiar to all generations. They include the ever-popular Beethoven 5th Symphony, the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini and best of Broadway show tunes.

The concert will feature young Steinway Artist Constance Kaita, a 20-year-old pianist who was born and raised in New Jersey. Kaita has won numerous statewide competitions and represented New Jersey in the Music Teachers National Association competitions. Kaita made her solo orchestral debut at nine years old with the Westfield Symphony. She has since performed with the Ambler Symphony, Bravura Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Chamber Musicians Orchestra, Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, Cairn University Orchestra and the Olney Symphony Orchestra. Kaita has also appeared in prestigious venues around the world including the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, the Shanghai Grand Theater and the Vianden Castle in Luxembourg, as well as Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center and Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall. She was a soloist in the United Nations headquarters in New York City at its commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Sino-US relations.

Kaita is a senior in the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore where she is pursuing a dual degree in piano performance and English at Johns Hopkins University. She will perform the Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini, a piece which Rachmaninoff himself debuted as a solo pianist with the Philadelphia Orchestra in Baltimore.

The program will include the famous Beethoven Symphony No. 5. It is one of the best-known compositions in classical music and one of the most frequently performed symphonies. First performed in Vienna’s Theater an der Wien in 1808, the work achieved its immense popularity soon afterward. The orchestra will also perform “The Best of Broadway,” a medley of highlights from the most popular Broadway shows.

General admission is $20, $18 for students and seniors. Premium seating is available at $25 each. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at bravuraphil.org. Advance tickets for $15 each can be reserved and additional information can be obtained by contacting the Bravura Philharmonic at (609) 933-4729, (908) 420-1248 or (732) 792-2070.
