Oasis Spa, located inside the Hopewell campus of Capital Health Medical Center, lives up to its name. It is an oasis ready to welcome patients, caregivers and members of the community. The spa opened alongside the hospital in 2011.

“The spa offers the community complimentary therapies to manage stress, and develop positive body images. They take a comprehensive approach to healing and wellness,” said Suzanne Borgos, senior vice president for Capital Health Systems. The goal is to make everyone feel comfortable and relaxed and “to support that sense of healing.”

Oasis Spa is open to everyone, not just patients. This fits with Capital Health’s overall mission of promoting wellness within the community.

“It is a great opportunity for local residents to use the spa for events, such as team building,” Borgos said. “It is a great way to gather together and to also relax. It is very important to manage the stress of our daily lives. We continue to look for new services and ways to connect with the community.”

The manager of Oasis Spa, LuAnne Rickey, agrees. The Spa changes its specials seasonally. For fall the theme is “Find Your Focus at Oasis!” Through Halloween, they are offering seasonal specials, such as a complimentary pumpkin mask with custom or express facials, pumpkin-scented manicure or pedicures, a free instant radiant eye patch treatment with very haircut, and a free scalp massage or hand reflexology with any message service.

“All of our services are customized for our clients,” Rickey said. “We do a consultation beforehand for our clients to request their needs.”

Oasis Spa offers traditional spa services, such as massages, aromatherapy, skin care and body treatments. It also has a nail lounge, hair salon and waxing services.

What sets Oasis Spa apart from many other spas is its Just for You Center, a special oncology suite offering wig fitting and styling. The full-service wig salon exclusively serves individuals with medically related hair loss. They offer wigs and accessories, as well as wig cutting and styling in a private setting.

With the approval of their physicians, they also offer bedside services for patients, as well as a 30-minute menu of services for surgery days. “Waiting can be stressful,” Rickey said. This is intended to help people relax while they wait.

There are also spa parties.

“We close the spa for spa parties, which are customized,” Rickey said. “We have a full menu of 30-minute specials. We have two to three services, they bring in snacks and wine.” Wednesday nights have proven to be a popular time for spa parties, as well as Saturdays for bridal parties.

All services are provided by a licensed team of specialists. Added Rickey: “Our team offers protocols for people with compromised immunity systems. For example our manicures and pedicures are done differently for people with diabetes or those undergoing chemotherapy. Many people tell me as soon as the walk in our door they can breathe easier.”

There is a relaxed setting with aromatherapy and music that makes it very soothing.

The spa also has prepared for winter needs with new retail products such as bejeweled hats. The infinity scarves and boot socks are two other popular products.

“We have a dual mission at Oasis Spa,” said Steffanie Archbald, director of public relations and marketing at Capital Health Medical Center.

“We want to help our patients and their families.” Rickey said, “we work with a doctor who sends someone for a massage. We work hand-in-hand with that recommendation.”
