Forte Productions has auditions for “A Very Kelsey Christmas” featuring solos, group numbers, and variety acts in the framework of a television broadcast, complete with studio cameras, monitors, and an applause sign. While the focus of the show will be Christmas, all songs of the season will be considered. Director/writer John Zimmerman and musical director Peter de Mets are seeking singers, actors, and dancers to fill a variety of roles ranging from Jolly Old St. Nick to the Kelsey Singers Chorus. New Jersey Blood Service is in need of volunteers at blood drives. The blood service volunteer is an integral member of the collection team whose task it is assist donors with registration, escorting and canteen duties, and to watch for post donation reactions. Friends of Mary Jacobs Library Foundation has a competition open to all ages to build a model of the Eiffel Tower. Entries should be made featuring recyclable items. Use your imagination, but keep the height no taller than three feet. All entries will be on display at the Mary Jacobs Memorial Library prior to and at the “A Taste of France” food and wine event on November 14. Winners will be announced on November 14. Lawrence Library seeks submissions for its eighth annual One-Act Play Festival, on Saturday, April 16. Plays should be 10 minutes in length with a maximum of five characters. Playwrights should be of high school age or older and reside or work in the Delaware Valley. Submissions are limited to a maximum of two per playwright.

Playwrights, amateur or professional, should submit their plays by Saturday, December 19, by E-mail to akerr@mcl.­org or may be brought to the library’s reference desk. Include two title pages: one with the play title only and the other with play title, name, address, phone, and E-mail of the playwright. The playwright’s name should not appear in the script. Mercer County offers assistance for energy costs. The County’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, offered in coordination with the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, allows individuals meeting various income qualifications to apply for bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, and energy-related home repairs. Application deadline is April 30. To be eligible for LIHEAP benefits, the applicant household must be responsible for home heating or cooling costs, either directly or included in the rent; and have gross income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
