I vote for Jordon because he believes in well-rounded education. As a mother of two, I can’t agree more. Having a high EQ and emotional health is just as important to children as sharpening their skills and academic knowledge.

I vote for Jordon because he promotes hiring good quality teachers and not to settle for less.

I vote for Jordon because he advocates for student participation in teacher evaluations. Give the teachers more motivation to strive for excellence in their daily teaching, not just once a year for an annual evaluation.

I vote for Jordon because he believes in having all parties’ voices heard. Board of Education policy should not be made in a vacuum. Feedback from key players including students and parents should be heard and taken into consideration.

I vote for Jordon because he is a great communicator. I’ve met him and listened to him. He has demonstrated excellent communication skills as well as strong leadership qualities.

I vote for Jordon because I believe he will bring a fresh set of eyes and mind to the school board.

If you are deeply concerned about the quality of education your kids are receiving, if you wish to know more about the processes of policy formulation and implementation at the school level, if you plan to take part in the discussion during Board of Education meetings and want your voice heard, I suggest you take a look at Jordon DeGroote’s campaign website: www.degroote4boe.org. You will not be disappointed.

Jordon will bridge the gap between the board’s perception of the issues and the opinions from students and parents. He plans to improve board transparency by publishing the voting records of all board members and making them accessible online. He also proposes to release official board responses to questions raised through public comment.

I remember the days when I was a student at high school, college, and graduate school. Now I myself am a father of two kids and also an educator. I fully understand the importance of communications between school administrators and students, as well as board members and parents. I totally agree with Jordon that we should include student input in teacher evaluations to judge students’ perspective of teachers’ efficacy, and we should increase the frequency of unscheduled in-class evaluations to better judge teachers’ ability. After all, we want teachers who can provide the best education.

If you want to speak, Jordon will ensure that your voice is heard. If you want to help improve the school district, Jordon will listen to your suggestions and try to fix the system.

I support Jordon DeGroot running for BOE. I have personally met him. This is a bright, young, and yet mature man who has the heart, the brain, and the guts to take the challenges and serve the community. He is a great leader. Most importantly, as a senior student, he knows too well about his peers, the teachers, our schools, and the parents. He is the true voice of the students. He has firm views on education, but he listens to different opinions instead of having hardened views as what we parents tend to have when we age.

Having grown up in this community and being a brilliant student leader in our schools, he embraces all varieties of people and culture. He is open and unbiased, ready to welcome new ideas and new people. He doesn’t have any prejudices that we elderly adults tend to develop. He speaks better for the students and their future simply because he is a student and he is the future. The BOE should have his voice.

As a senior at High School South, I’ve had the opportunity of being in class with Jordon DeGroote for four years. What has always stood out the most about him is his tremendous intelligence and drive. His commitment to go to college locally if elected also shows his dedication to the position. I whole heartedly recommend that all West Windsor voters vote for him for the Board of Education.

I remember the first time I met Jordon in my sophomore Advanced Placement U.S. History class. From day one he has continued to captivate my classmates and me. One day he brought up an interesting news article regarding Oklahoma’s attempt to ban AP U.S. History courses. A class debate began and by the end of class, I was left with a feeling of profound awe. It was one of those rare moments that engaged the entire class. Moments every great teacher strives to achieve. In retrospect, Jordon possesses not only the qualities of a great teacher, but also the demeanor of a model student, classmate, and friend.

Over the past three years I have had the privilege of listening to Jordon speak in venues both large and small. I am not one who typically finds delectation in listening to speeches. In fact, I often find speeches to be dull, repetitive, and quite frankly, boring. However, listening to Jordon is fascinating. He is the most mesmerizing speaker I have had the pleasure of meeting, and the most engaging as well. He truly listens to his audience and makes a personal effort to address all concerns and questions.

Don’t let Jordon’s age fool you. His maturity and oratory abilities are reminiscent of a tenured politician, while his experiences are those of a high school student. Nothing is more necessary and important than a true advocate for the students. A representative from the people.
