In Plainsboro, incumbents Tony Fleres and Rachel Juliana are running unopposed and have not raised any funds.
One West Windsor board seat is being contested by board vice president Michele Kaish and South senior Jordon DeGroote. Kaish has received $650 in contributions, $50 of which was an unsolicited contribution from former WW-P Board member Bob Johnson. The remaining balance is self-funded.
DeGroote reported 51 donations, all from private individuals, for a total contribution amount of $4,400.
Campaign contribution figures were collected by parent and “Take Back Childhood” founder Catherine Foley, who queried this year’s candidates via E-mail. She says that “while no campaign finance laws have been broken,” under the code of ethics school board members must “refuse to surrender [their] independent judgment to special interest or partisan political groups or to use the schools for personal gain or for the gain of friends.”
