Welcome everyone to the challenges for 2015! I thank the WW-P News for affording me a platform to voice concerns I see within this place I have called home for 30 years. As a reader recently shared, America today is not the USA in which I grew up. Is that progress? That is a subjective interpretation.
For the past few years I have incessantly railed about the demise of the Grover Homestead because it is anathema to my being to destroy that which has withstood 170 years in partnership with Mother Nature. To this hour we don’t know why Grover was destroyed. Why does the mayor hide from answering this question? Please ask him along with George Borek and Linda Geevers and share your answers.
“If you see something, say something!” There are so many things you can do to make your community better. My theme has been consistent in heralding unnecessary waste while promoting accountability.
(1). At the December 22 Council meeting, I asked Municipal Attorney Michael Herbert to have all his expenses and professional fees submitted to close the township books no later than December 31. Why is it so difficult to document his professional charges between $200 and 300,000 for his part-time job?
(2). What are the plans for the Department of Public Works operations during January and February? Where is the new staging area within West Windsor for leaves and brush? This will result in significant savings.
(3). A new police records system acquired? What did this cost? The payback?
(4). How can residents and voters accept the sustained absence of the mayor during twice-monthly Council meetings? Why should taxpayers pay for the mayor’s separate town hall meetings when he has plenty of political funds from his re-election campaign? This is a free, unjustifiable political platform.
(5). Cranbury Road sidewalks? Another promise by the mayor with the solution at hand. Utilizing the new $200,000 John Deere construction equipment, Public Works can do the bulk of the work thereby saving significant funds. All engineering must be completed during the winter to enable spring construction.
(6). I telephoned the mayor on the taxpayer-provided and funded cell phone number about six weeks ago. Hsueh has yet to return my call made from the Council Room.
(7). Plans for the John Nash sidewalk on Alexander at Wallace Road requested four years ago?
(8). Plans for continuing the Washington Road sidewalk construction where pedestrians are in proximity to speeding vehicles? Again, this easily could be done by Public Works with existing equipment.
(9). If the mayor wants to be the Director of Public Safety, he must be front and center to inform residents about relevant matters affecting the public.
