The Friends of the Ewing Library is set to hold its Cabin Fever Book Sale and Flea Market on January 22, 23 and 24.
The Friends’ book sale happens three times a year in January, May and September. It has been taking place for more than 20 years.
You can find almost any type of book at the sale including fiction, non-fiction, classics, romance, mysteries, science fiction, religious books, children’s books, cookbooks, large print books, foreign language books and coffee table books. The sale also features DVDs, CDs and even records.
The sale spans three rooms and an annex. The front two rooms hold books, DVDs, CDs and records. The third room, located in the back of the library, holds a flea market where almost anything could turn up.
The annex is the place to find textbooks and teachers’ books.
The sale is organized and staffed by volunteers, including Karen Gottlieb, the vice president of book sales for the Friends of the Library.
Gottlieb recalls that once at the sale, a man started screaming in excitement. He explained that he had been looking for the books he had just found for a dollar apiece on the Internet and at used bookstores for five years.
She said that people tell her that the book sale is one of the best organized ones around.
Paperbacks go for two for $1, while most other books are $1 each. Oversized and specialty books are individually priced and can cost up to $20. DVDs are $3 and CDs are $2.
All of the sale’s proceeds go to the Ewing Library.
The hours for the sale are from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, January 23 and from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 24.
Ewing Library is located at 61 Scotch Road.
