Academic Achievements from WW-P to College

Rishab Bhandari, a sophomore at High School North, was the winner in the Middlesex County American Legion Oratorical Contest. The event was held January 31 at American Legion Post 87, Woodbridge. Each contestant delivered a prepared oration about some phase of the Constitution of the United States, as well as an oration on a randomly assigned constitutional topic.

Bhandari was sponsored by Lt. John Farnkopf of American Legion Post 401 in South Brunswick. He will compete in the regional contest on March 28 in Woodbridge.

Brice Huang, a student at High School North, has been named a finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search. The math and science competition challenges youth to create a solution to a problem or create new technology.

Huang’s project was “Monomization of Power Ideals and Generalized Parking Functions.” He received an award of $7,500. In March he will compete in Washington, DC, for one of the top three prizes.

Team Absolute Zero received an award for best mechanical robot in a First Lego League competition. Students from Community Middle School include Vivek Vajipey and Parth Shastri, both sixth grade; and Vineeth Vajipey, eighth grade. Grover Middle School students include Arya Sasne and Om Deshmukh, sixth grade.

Pennington School: Niral Ramesh of West Windsor was one of the seniors inducted into the school’s chapter of the Cum Lau de Society.

Phillips Exeter Academy: Catherine Huang, grade 10, of West Windsor, earned highest honors for the fall term.

New School for Music Study: Kristina Khaw of Plainsboro received center honors for practical exams through the Royal Conservatory Musical Development Program.

Ashland University: Suborna Debnath of Plainsboro received a master’s degree in business administration with a major in executive management.

University of Connecticut: Students on the dean’s list include Plainsboro residents Phillip Louis Menard and Bharadhwaj Srikanth, and Adam Bacall of West Windsor.

Cornell University: Brandon James Plummer of West Windsor is on the dean’s list. A 2013 graduate of High School North, he attends the Industrial and Labor Relations School.

Drexel University: Joyce Zhang, a graduate of High School North and a freshman in the BSMD program, is on the dean’s list.

Elizabethtown College: Meghan Vogt of West Windsor is on the dean’s list. A senior, she is majoring in early childhood education.

Fordham University: Paige Dalcourt of Plainsboro received the Gabelli School of Business Woolworth Award, an academic achievement award for first-term freshmen with outstanding GPAs. She graduated from High School North in 2014.

Georgia Institute of Technology: Pratik Nadkar of Plainsboro received a bachelor of science in business administration.

University of Hartford: Marc Steinberg of Plainsboro is on the dean’s list.

Hofstra University: Students on the dean’s list include Colby Hussong of West Windsor and Hannah Richman of Plainsboro.

James Madison University: Plainsboro residents Amy Slothower and Gregory Weisbecker were named to the president’s list.

University of Maryland: Darrien Banks of West Windsor is on the dean’s list. A sophomore, he graduated from High School North in 2013 and is pursuing a major in health administration.

College of New Jersey: Plainsboro residents on the dean’s list include Rebecca Alabastro, Alexandra Kadar, Meena Selvanathan, Katelyn Baker, Grace Jeong, Anne Carenina Balicusto, Bijal Desai, Alyssa Avino, and Kendal Borup.

Students from West Windsor on the dean’s list include Maria Dicindio, Diana Befi, Joanna Ju, Rooshang Patel, Teresa Akkara, David Adlai-Gail, Jaedi Gambatese, Kaitlyn Grant, Rachel Oertel, Jessica Oertel, Selena Seto, Abdul Kazi, Ranjitha Vasa, Sushmith Ramesh, Seema Desai, Julie Bradley, and Neel Kumtakar.

Seton Hall University: Pierce Willans of West Windsor and Wanru Yin of Plainsboro are on the dean’s list.
