The Old Barracks Museum is set to celebrate Women’s History Month with a day of activities dedicated to women’s history on Saturday, March 21.
The ongoing presentation “Best if Used By… Foodways of the 18th century” will go from noon to 4 p.m. The presentation will cover how food was prepared and preserved during colonial times.
At 1 p.m., Nancy Loane will speak about her book “Following the Drum: Women at the Valley Forge Encampment.” The book discusses the impact that the military encampment had on nearby families, as well as the plight of the women who followed the Continental Army during the American Revolution. The talk will be followed by a Q&A as well as an informal book signing.
The program is included with the museum’s regular admission fee.
