Princeton Area Juniorettes, an extension of the Princeton Women’s Club, ran a food drive at McCaffrey’s in West Windsor on Sunday, March 8. The event was run by Kaley Bohling, a junior at High School North, and Taylor Strype, a senior at High School North.
The two girls coordinated the event through a request to McCaffrey’s corporate offices to run the event there. Then they reached out to the Plainsboro Pantry and notified them they had selected them for their project. “The pantry was thrilled and the girls asked for a list of the supplies they were in desperate need of so shoppers had some guidelines,” says Lori K. Bohling, a West Windsor resident. “They created a handout about the event and listing the items in need as a hand out for the McCaffrey shoppers.”
Princeton Area Juniorettes volunteer for charities including HomeFront, Trenton Soup Kitchen, Plainsboro Food Pantry, Catholic Charities of Trenton, and Department of Children & Families. They lead many events annually for families and children in our local area, as well as encourage other local girls in the middle and high schools to join PAJ. Their leaders, Kathy Lane, Kristen Lane, and Judy Gorberg, all live in West Windsor.
“The shoppers were generous with cash donations exceeding $150 and the girls went and bought more food with the donated money,” Bohling says. “It was an enormous success and McCafffrey’s has asked the two girls to come back whenever they want to.”
