The Lawrence Township Human Relations Committee in cooperation with the Lawrence Township School District and the City of Trenton Green Team are sponsoring the Tenth Annual Diversity/Culture Day 2015, on Sunday, May 3rd, from noon to 4 p.m. This year the event will be held in the Commons at Lawrence High School located at 2525 Princeton Pike in Lawrenceville.
Join the community as it connects with and celebrates the many ethnic, racial, and cultural groups living in town. Meet your neighbors from every part of Lawrence Township, make new friends, and be part of this community occasion. Experience the different exhibits, various performances, and international music. Admission and parking will be free, along with a variety of foods from local restaurants.
This year the Lawrence Township Human Relations Committee will celebrate its 10th year by honoring the keynote speakers for the last 10 years. Rabbi Yitzchak Goldenberg from Young Israel of Lawrence,Harold Vereen from Eggerts Crossing Civic League, Superintendent of Lawrence Township School, Crystal Edwards, Sikh Temple, Play writer Noemi de la Puente, and Director of the Multicultural Affair at Rider University, Pamela Pruitt.
Richard McLaughlin, Keith Dewey, Art Hull, Chris Peterson and Teresita Bastides-Heron former Human Relations Committee Chairs will be recognized for the excellent job they did in their post.
The Human Relations Committee is pleased to announce that Rabbi Benjamin Adler, currently the spiritual leader of Adath Israel Congragation in Lawrenceville is passionate about being present and guiding individuals and families through the sweetness, sorrows, challenges and opportunities of Jewish life.
The program is set to include performances by the Yuan Yuan Group,a demonstration on Chinese Calligraphy and Chinese Paper folding, Arabic name writing, henna tattoo painting, traditional dances by the Kuulei’s Hawaiian Dancers and a martial arts demonstration from Master Robert of World KM Taekwondo.
The Lawrence High School International Alliance & Career Academies will be participating as volunteers during the event, along with GEPNA, the Mercer County Library (Lawrence Branch), and the Lawrence Township Senior Center to name but a few. There will be crafts from Algeria, India and South America. The Irish Dancers will perform the Irish River Dance and much more.
