New School for Music Study students performed in the honors and high honors recitals for the New Jersey Music Teachers Association. NSMS students who received honors or high honors included: Nina Austria (Monmouth Junction), Nicholas Budny (Princeton), Michelle deSouza (Plainsboro), Evan Fu (Princeton), Julia Jasnosz (Montgomery), Naomi Kern (Princeton), Kristina Khaw (Plainsboro), Hayley Kunkle (Princeton Junction), Marie Pugliese (Skillman), Caroline Sabin (West Windsor), Maria Santos (Princeton), and Sunny Wang (Titusville). The concerts were held on May 9 and 10, 2015 at Rider University and at the Korean Methodist Church in East Brunswick.
Students were selected to perform in the recitals through an audition process where they were chosen by local judges.
The recitals featured a variety of classical music from Baroque to contemporary periods.
The NJMTA is an affiliate of the Music Teachers National Association. It is a nonprofit organization whose funds are used to advance the musical knowledge and to promote professional growth among music teachers, and to conduct activities which encourage and support teaching, performance, composition and the appreciation of music.
NSMS is one of the country’s leading centers in piano education and provides a variety of programs and classes for students.
