Forrestal Village’s Fresh Friday Farmers Market opens for the summer through September 25 (except for July 3). Vendors include some of last year’s favorites and a cornucopia of new vendors. There will also be guest purveyors and a roster of events for the whole family.
Along with fresh local produce and products, this year’s selection includes grab-n-go meals for lunch or dinner, fresh juices and smoothies, fermented and pickled foods, and a bevy of other wholesome, Jersey-fresh foods.
Bobolink Dairy and Bakehouse will bring its raw-milk cheeses, grass-fed fresh milk, and yogurts, along with just-out-of-the-oven heirloom grain breads. Brick Farm Market returns with a wide variety of artisanal breads, cured meats, house-made jarred foods, and grab-n-go lunches. This year Brick will also bring artisanal honeys and grass-fed meats.
Bubbly Jen’s Farm presents naturally fermented vegetables and drinks, and will sell supplies for those who enjoy fermenting on their own. Another new addition is Frank’s Pickled Peppers featuring artisanal salsas, relishes, chutneys, and pickled Jersey-fresh vegetables.
Gourmet Nuts and Dried Fruits sells all-natural nuts, seeds, dried fruits, and olives. Master baker Jen Carson brings LiLLipies back to the market with her sweet pies, brioche, donuts, cookies, and other baked goods.
Robson’s Farm returns with its fresh picked orchard fruits and vegetables. Stults Farm of Plainsboro will again offer fresh fruits, vegetables, and starter plants.
Sharon Levy returns with Taking Tea InStyle, featuring her eclectic blends of teas, and pots of iced-teas. Tico’s Juice Bar brings fresh fruit and vegetable juices and an assortment of smoothies.
Jim Weaver of Tre Piani Restaurant expands his menu of Mediterranean dishes to include house-made mozzarella, grab-n-go meals, and ready-to-cook, fresh-made pastas. Unionville Vineyards returns with an artisanal array of award-winning wines and ports.
Other events at the farm market this summer include talks and booksignings by authors, storytime for children, dancing, healthy eating, and presentations for children about edible plants.
Last year’s market could not accommodate all the vendors who wanted to be a part of the market, but there will be guest vendors including O Made Granola with hand-crafted, small-batch granola; It’s Simply Local/NJ, Jersey Girls with a variety of soaps, jewelry, food, and other products made in the Garden State; and Bam Bam Broth with slow simmered, “paleo-friendly” broths.
Vendors are located in the tree-shaded Forrestal Village Market Plaza between the Village Fitness Center and Tre Piani Restaurant.
