Since 1985 the operators of the airport have opened its doors so visitors, both young and young-at-heart, can see the daily operations of the airfield. The tour guides will be more than happy to share any and all information regarding the airport’s current affairs along with its storied past.
Every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. during the months of July and August visitors are invited for a free tour that will address the airport’s current state along with it’s 100 years of history. The airport is located at 41 Airpark Road in Montgomery Township.
As a privately owned, public use facility, the Princeton Airport provides many services to the Central Jersey area. Among these services you will find the flying school which teaches anyone from students just looking for a new hobby to students training to fly commercially; airplane sales; airplane servicing for anything from a 100-hour inspection to complete overhauls; indoor and outdoor parking areas for aircraft and a pilot shop with gifts for people of all ages as well as essential tools for pilots at any point of their training.
When attending the tour, the public will view many different aircraft based at the field as well as transient aircraft coming from other airports. An explanation of the procedures employed by pilots and the airport management will be made to present a better understanding of how the safety of every person departing into the sky is ensured. Upon entering the maintenance shop, the public will learn exactly how and why all aircrafts comply with the stringent Federal Aviation Regulations.
The tours take approximately 30-45 minutes and they are completely free and open to anyone, including groups. The first tour will begin July 3. The tours will not take place in the event of rain or any other form of inclement weather.
