If you are looking for the most ‘playable, family-friendly’ communities across the nation, Hamilton Township continues to remain at the top of the list.
For a seventh consecutive year, Hamilton Township was recognized as a 2015 “Playful City USA” Community through the Playful City USA program, which honors communities across the nation for efforts making it easy for kids to “get the balanced and active play they need to thrive.”
Only three other New Jersey towns – Lower Township, Rahway and South Orange – earned the designation for 2015.
The national recognition program is sponsored by the Humana Foundation, in partnership with KaBOOM! a national non-profit dedicated to bringing balanced and active play into the daily lives of all kids, particularly those growing up in poverty in America.
According to the program’s website, the Playful City USA looks for communities that: Demonstrate significant collaboration among nonprofit partners, foundations, municipal agencies, the business community, and local civic groups; exhibit Mayoral or local governmental leadership on the cause of play; and express the ability and commitment to use data to address inequality through infrastructure investment, policy change and programming as demonstrated in their action plans.
