Randy Koslo of West Windsor is exhibiting in “We Are More Than Our Diseases,” an exhibit by members of the Princeton Photography Club at Gallery 14 in Hopewell. The opening reception is Friday, August 14, from 6 to 8 p.m.; and there is a meet the photographers event on Sunday, August 16, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Koslo was born in Warren County and has lived in West Windsor for more than 25 years. He has Ph.D. in respiratory physiology from the Temple University School of Medicine and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in neuropharmacology at Hahnemann University School of Medicine.
He began his career at Bristol-Myers Products, where his accomplishments included supporting and patenting Excedrin Migraine and Vagistat-1, now marketed as Monistat 1. Through the years he was also involved with Flonase, Breathe Right, and the launch of Aleve Sinus & Cold to over the counter. He retired in 2013 as vice president of global research and development for respiratory health at GlaxoSmithKline.
Evolving with the technological changes over the last 40 years, he has also had the opportunity to be immersed in cultures around the world as well as draw on his experience in improving the human condition through patient oriented biomedical research. Those life experiences greatly influenced his photographic style.
Koslo applies his energy, innovative thinking, and caring to his photography. He has more than 40 years experience in photography and imaging. The artistry of Ansel Adams, Bill Brant, George Hurrel, Rembrandt, Picasso, and Michael Curtiz has also impacted his photographic styles.
His main area of focus is portraiture and landscapes. Using ambient light, most of the subjects for his work are found at urban, rural, and live performance venues at home and around the world. Strobe and continuous lighting sources are also utilized in the studio and on location. He works to bring out the unique qualities found in all people and places.
Koslo’s exhibitions includes juried venues such as Soho Photo Gallery in New York, Lakefront Gallery, Gallery 14, and Perkins Center for the Arts in New Jersey, and Rich Timmons Gallery in Pennsylvania). His work has also appeared in the New York Times, Playbill, and BC the Mag.
He is a member of the Princeton Photo Club, Photographic Society of America, and a founding member of the Metropolitan Chapter of the PSA and New Hope Art League.
