Kidsbridge Tolerance Museum seeks volunteers to help kids learn about tolerance, diversity, and bullying prevention. Volunteers work with small groups of students guiding them through fun, interactive exhibits, and discussions. The museum hosts field trips of elementary and middle school students from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Volunteers may work 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., or the entire session. New Jersey Blood Services, a division of New York Blood Center, which supplies blood products and services to 60 hospitals throughout the state, is in need of volunteers at blood drives. The blood service volunteer is an integral member of the collection team whose task it is assist donors with registration, escorting, and canteen duties, and to watch for post donation reactions. CONTACT will offer two 40 hour training courses for prospective hotline volunteers begins with an orientation session on Tuesday, September 15; at 9:30 a.m. or 7:30 p.m. at the Pennington United Methodist Church, 60 South Main Street, Pennington. The classes teach compassionate listening skills, telephone crisis intervention, suicide prevention, addiction awareness, and more. Rutgers University is launching a dance MFA program. The 26-month program begins in January. Jeff Friedman, a dance artist with a doctorate degree in dance studies, will serve as director of the program designed for professional dance artists who are at least five years out from undergraduate school who wish to teach and research at the collegiate level.
Applicants must submit a formal application and fee online through Rutgers University Graduate Admissions at admissions.rutgers.edu by Thursday, October 1, and the Mason Gross Supplemental application by Tuesday, December 1. Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Community Development Fund is accepting grant applications from local not-for-profit organizations that play a role in education, leadership, economic opportunity, and self-sufficiency. Grant proposals are due to the Princeton Area Community Foundation no later than Tuesday, September 15, at 5 p.m. Decisions will be announced at the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce’s monthly luncheon meeting on Thursday, November 5.

Grundy Library is collecting personal stories in an effort to capturing community diversity as part of a new oral history project, “Everyone Has a Story to Tell – What’s Yours?” Interview friends or family members on any subject at the library. These personal stories from the public will be recorded with copies saved to the Grundy Library Historical Collection and given to the interviewer and interviewee. Michaels, an arts and crafts retailer, is teaming with Winsor & Newton and Liquitex, to present “Art Challenge: A Fine Art Competition” for serious and aspirational artists. Submit images of original artworks in oil or acrylic paint on canvas or watercolor on watercolor paper beginning through Saturday, August 15 at Michaels.com/artchallenge . The panel will select 10 semi-finalists and then one winner and three runners-up will be chosen by public vote August 23 to 29.
