Joan Marie Maurer, 83, of New City, New York, died July 23. Survivors include a sister, Suzanne Patterson of West Windsor.

Lois C. Becker, 69, of Plainsboro died July 25 at RWJ University Hospital at Somerset. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Staten Island before moving to Plainsboro in 1987. She was a teacher trainer for Middlesex ARC for more than 25 years.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Harold Becker; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barrie Humphrey, Kerry and Brian Schroeder; three sisters, Lynne Appel, Lisa Shanks, and Rory Malin; and four grandchildren, Zachary Humphrey, Emma Humphrey, Rebekah Schroeder, and Madeline Schroeder . Frank Paul DeFina, 61, of Plainsboro died July 26 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Born in Brackenridge, Pennsylvania, he moved to Plainsboro with his family in 1999. A security executive, he worked with Panasonic, Samsung, and Hikvision.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Patricia A. DeFina; his sons and daughter-in-law, Frank and Cynthia DeFina, and James DeFina; his grandson, Frankie; his parents, Frank and Angelina DeFina; his sisters, Maria Colonna and Josephine Taddeo, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donations may be made to Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia Foundation.

Ruby Chiang, 43, of West Windsor died July 28 from injuries incurred during a motor vehicle accident on July 26. Survivors include her husband, Robert Chiang, and their twin children, Kevin Shiau Chiang and Julia Shiau Chiang.

A graduate of University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in economics, she received a master of business administration in finance from UCLA. An analyst at Lehman Brothers and a senior analyst at Exelon, she worked at ETS since 2003 in market research. Funeral services were held at the Nottingham Ballroom on August 1.

Diane Lynn (Wales) Barber, 67, died July 29. Survivors include a granddaughter, Amber Ouellette and her husband Adam; and a great grandchild, Owen Ouellete, all of Plainsboro. Donations may be made to Hospice of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, 168 Industrial Drive, Northampton, MA 01060; or the Amherst Survival Center, Box 9629, North Amherst, MA 01059-9629.

Stephen Carl Brame, 65, of Lawrence died July 29. Survivors include his aunt, Juanita W. Faulkner of West Windsor. Donations may be made to Every Child Valued, 175 Johnson Avenue, Lawrenceville 08648.

Vincent C. Staats, 68, of Lawrenceville died on July 30. A former resident of West Windsor, he coached West Windsor Little League and was an assistant scoutmaster.

Born in Bound Brook, he graduated from Princeton High School and Rider College. An Army veteran, during the Vietnam War he was stationed in Hawaii with the Army Security Agency. As a computer programmer and analyst he worked at ETS, Princeton Data Services, Johnson & Johnson, American Cyanamid, Church & Dwight, OSI, and the Traf Group. He retired in 2013.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sarah; his sons, Jonathan of Charleston, South Carolina, and Steve of Morgantown, West Virginia; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jo Ann of Belle Mead, and their children, Adam of Flemington and Jessica Muller of Kernersville, North Carolina; his brother, Greg of West Windsor; and sister-in-law, Elaine Staats of Princeton.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be Saturday, August 22, at 11 a.m. at Christ Congregation Church, 50 Walnut Lane, Princeton. Donations may be made to Animal Friends through Education and Welfare at www.afewpets.org
