Bestselling author Lauren B. Davis is set to lead a fiction writing workshop at the Lawrence branch of the Mercer County Library System.
The workshop will explores the elements of creating a scene for a short story. It is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at the library, 2751 Brunswick Pike, Lawrenceville.
Suitable for both emerging and established writers, the workshop will be a combination of lecture and writing exercises, designed to develop understanding and allow writers to practice writing vivid scene openings.
Davis is the author of six books and is best known for her novel Our Daily Bread, which was named one of the best books of 2011 by The Globe and Mail and The Boston Globe. Her most recent work is the bestselling novel, The Empty Room, an “Editor’s Pick” by Amazon.
She is also a well-respected creative writing teacher who has taught in Geneva, Paris, Ireland, as well as the United States and Canada. She currently lives in Princeton, where she leads a monthly writers’ workshop, Sharpening the Quill.
The monthly meeting of the Lawrence Headquarters Branch fiction writing group is an encouraging and supportive environment for beginning or published writers to share their writing. Members are encouraged but not required to submit their work. The groups meets on the last Thursday of each month at the library.
