Tree expert D. Pepper deTuro of Princeton will give a lecture titled Going Native With Trees on October 8 at 7 p.m. at the Hopewell Train Station.
DeTuro, a professional arborist and Certified Tree Expert for the state of New Jersey, will cover why going native is beneficial, including the impact on the environment, animal, the landscape, tree health, maintenance and issues of invasive species. He will also discuss how planting a particular tree in a particular location can reduce maintenance and increase the tree’s longevity and how to help trees during periods of drought.
DeTuro is president of Woodwinds Associates, a professional tree care firm located in Princeton, is a member of several professional arborist organizations and has a degree in plant science from the University of Delaware.
The event, which is hosted by the Hopewell Public Library as part of its Wednesday Night Out Series, is free.
