Suniti Chandani and her daughter, Sheereen, the founders of Sunny and Sheereen Design, a boutique that specializes in clothing and gift items in Windsor Plaza, organized a fall festival at the newly renovated center on October 5. There was pumpkin and face painting, free food, and information about the businesses in the plaza.
Sometimes mannequin displays just aren’t enough and the fashions of the boutique were introduced at a fashion show featuring more than 30 models from the community. “We are surrounded by beauty every day, and fashion to us is not just about functionality,” says Suniti, who goes by Sunny. “It’s about self expression and desire.”
“Our models ranged from the age of 15 to their 50s,” says Sunny. “It was extremely touching to get so much love and trust from them.” The models included Amanda Rutter, Mara Pugliese, Sara Svetanovic, Olivia Daler, Leah Mozenter, Claire Burke, Madigan Kelly, Julia Geer, Kimmy Solomon, Alyssa rivers, Emma Kothari, Sophia Dileo, Molly Hannington, Zac Kluggerman, Filip Filopovic, Nishant Modi, Sam Merkovitz, Donna Juzefyk Shuell, Karen Marlib, Alex Fanelli, Danielle Brubaker, Ally Shuell, Elise Manzari, Shweta Goswami Bhatheja, Shivalika Gandhi, Sanjana Gulati, Sanjna Nandal, Rohani Gandhi, and Manju Lulla.
“The combination of materials, colors, and proportions end up creating limited editions of art and renders intrinsic value to our collection; a timelessness and craftsmanship that is not easily replicable,” says Sunny. “The overlay of sheer illusions, silk, and beadwork enhances stately gowns. Sequins and embroidery, curve-enhancing fabric, geometric patterns, floral lace, and elegant necklines add to the collection.
“Our 12 sponsors have been an amazing support system and we wouldn’t have been able to put together such a wonderful event without their help,” says Sunny. “The participants, including family and friends, were an extremely enthusiastic and supportive audience, and it was a very emotional moment for us.”
