West Windsor Township Human Relations Council presents “Keys to Curbing Domestic Violence,” a program including education, communication, and multi-pronged coordinated services, on Saturday, October 25, at the West Windsor Senior Center from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
In recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month during October, the program is planned to provide important information about this issue and the critical necessity of linking victims and their children to services, resources, and community-based organizations to obtain assistance and access safe and healthy housing.
“Experts will be on hand in the fields of law enforcement, health care, education, faith based advocacy, and social support services providing vital information on the services and resources available to help victims of domestic violence, as well as concerned stakeholders,” says West Windsor Mayor Shing-fu Hsueh. “The education of the community is part of our ongoing outreach effort in helping build a safe and healthy community in our township.”
Speakers include Dr. Craig Gronczewski, chair of emergency medicine at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro; and Anna Trautwein, administrator at women’s ambulatory care services at Saint Peter’s University Hospital. Advocacy and support services will be discussed by Donna Zytko, a counselor advocate for WomanSpace, and criminal justice will be presented by Stacey Geurds of the Mercer County prosecutor’s office. Other speakers include Lieutenant Matt Kemp from the West Windsor Township Police Department’s Investigation Bureau, and Reverend Tamara R. Jackson, a licensed social worker.
Resource and information tables are available to visit prior to and at the conclusion of the program. There will be a reception immediately following the program. E-mail bjiemonds@aol.com for more information.
