Trenton artists are putting out the welcome mat for the third annual Art All Day, the capital city’s day of art studio tours, creative showcases and exhibitions set for Saturday, Nov. 8.
Free events run from noon to 5 p.m., followed by a reception at the coordinating arts organization, Artworks, 19 Everett Alley.
With over 80 artists and craftspeople at 30 locations throughout the city, the event features prominent organizations and individuals including the SAGE Coalition’s Gandhi Garden and Gallery 219 at 219 Hanover Street; Trenton Area Soup Kitchen’s A-Team artists, based at 72 Escher Street; nationally known artist Mel Leipzig, painting live at the New Jersey State Museum, 205 West State Street; and AbOminOg Intl. Arts Collective at the Old Barracks Museum, 101 Barracks Street.
Groups participating for the first time include the Hive Community of Art & Design, 307 North Clinton Avenue; New Trenton Store & Studio, 325 South Broad Street; and The College of New Jersey’s CommunityWorks Art Gallery, 5 S. Broad Street.
Other attractions include muralists working at various locations, film screenings, and dance and music performances. Donation requested tours of public art and murals also will be offered. Attendees can create self-guided tours by using free maps or participate in guided trolley, bicycle, and walking tours. Maps and programs may be picked prior to or on during the event at the Art All Day headquarters at Artworks or downloaded prior to the event at artworkstrenton.org/art-all-day.
The Artworks building is the central headquarters where visitors can park, find maps and schedules, visit on-site studios, view the Artists of Art All Day group show, purchase food from truck vendors and begin trolley, bike and walking tours.
The 2014 Art All Day schedule includes:
11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Artworks main gallery opens to the public, featuring Artists of Art All Day group show
Noon to 5 p.m. Studios, pop-up galleries, and creative spaces throughout Trenton open to the public, all sites listed on free Art All Day map/program.
Noon, 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. Trolley tours guided by Art All Day staff. Each tour is approximately 1½ hours. Suggested donation: $10 for one tour, $15 for two, and $20 for three.
12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Walking tours of downtown and Art All Day sites led by Art All Day staff. Tour is approximately 1 hour. $5 suggested donation.
Noon to 5 p.m. Hourly Art All Day bike tours (bring your own bike) led by artist and tall biker Wills Kinsley. $5 suggested donation.
Noon to 5 p.m. Live painting/demos at multiple AAD sites, including Mel Leipzig at New Jersey State Museum (noon through 4 p.m.), 205 West State Street; Dean “Ras” Innocenzi and Jonathan “Lank” Connor at TerraCycle, 121 New York Avenue; Will “Kasso” Condry at Gallery 219, 219 Hanover Street; Leon Rainbow at Zienowicz Signs, 202 E.
