Mercer County Community College is set to host a summer camps open house.
During the open house, camp directors will be on hand to provide overviews of summer programs and answer questions. Visitors can tour MCCC’s facilities, including computer labs, television studio, Olympic-size swimming pool, tennis courts and cafeteria.
A variety of programs for children ages six to 17 are set to begin June 23. Programs include Camp College, Specialty Camps, Sports Camps and Tomato Patch Visual and Performing Arts Workshops.
Camp College provides an alternative to traditional summer camp in two four-week sessions. Campers ages six to 12 can create a personalized schedule from more than 60 subject offerings, with new courses in the arts and computers added for 2014.
Camp College also offers one-week Specialty Camps for ages six through 17 in science, technology, cooking, crafts and more.
Mercer’s Sports Camps, for ages six to 15, offer one-week sessions in nine popular sports and are taught by high school and college coaches, as well as college athletes. Camps include baseball, basketball, field hockey, golf, mountain biking, soccer, softball, speed, agility and quickness, and tennis.
Tomato Patch Visual and Performing Arts Workshops give students entering grades five through 12 a multidisciplinary experience in theater, dance, vocal music, visual arts and video. Workshops are scheduled for June 23 to July 17 for grades eight to 12 and July 21 to Aug. 7 for grades five to seven.
Before- and after-care is available for campers.
The open house is scheduled for 12 to 3 p.m. in the Student Center on the West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A snow date is set for Feb. 2.
Additional information sessions are scheduled for 12 to 2 p.m. Feb. 15, March 22 and April 26.
